this is my home stop motion. the lighting is not the best but it shows the general idea of what im going to have to improve and produce. this stop motion was made by using my small cousins toy.

this is the section that the images will be shown when they are being made into a stop motion video. the green blocks are sound and they yellow are the images being made into a video. you are able to extend the sound for the amount of time you need it for. for the images you can change the duration they are shown for, to make the stop motion the images need to be shown for a short amount of time so that the video flows.

this is how you change the amount of time the images are displayed for. to get this option you need to go to the task bar and click the tab 'modify' and then 'change duration' or the key board shortcut is shown.

pictures in final cut

this image shows one of the sections in final cut. this is the section where the images go when you import them. importing the images with final cut is easier that in iMovie.
this section is where all the images are stored when they are imported. this section is one of the ones across the top. it stores them so that there is a small thumbnail showing so you know what order the images have been imported in. as long as the images are in order in the folder where they are stored they will remain in order when they are imported into final cut.

this is the image pre-viewer and this is located next to where the images are shown in thumbnails, this is useful so that you have got the image in a bigger version. on the image above there is a yellow bored around the images and this means they are selected. when only one image is selected it will be shown in the image pre-viewer.

Final cut interface

The screen grab below shows the software final cut. the screen grab is of the main interface. the interface is simple be effective, you are able to easily find everything you need. this software was developed by Apple. when you first load up final cut the second section in along the top gives you two options you can either import from your camera when its connected to your mac, or if you already hace the files on your computer you simply click the other option. the biggest section in the programme is where the video is placed to add more things such as sounds.

When i have all of my images for my stop motion, there is two pieces of software that are available to me. Both of them are made by apple and they are called iMovie and Final Cut. Both of there have there pro's and con's. Once i have collected all of the images for my stop motion i am going to put them together to make the video and the software im going to use to do this is Final Cut because of how simple it is. All of the main options you need are on shown and accessible and now hid in all different menus. I am lucky enough to have both pieces of software on my iMac.

One of the problems i will encounter when using Final Cut when i go to export the movie i might find that the file size is too large to be placed onto blogger and to get around this there are two ways of doing so. The first way of getting around this problem is to upload the video to youtube and they use bloggers link-up to youtube to allow me to blog my video on this site. And the other way around this problem is to open the video in iMovie and re-export it so that the file size is not too large to be uploaded onto blogger.

So to make my stop motion i might have to use both pieces of software so that i am able to place my video on blogger for people to view. 

Making of Stop Motions.

To make a stop motion successful several things have to be taken into account, and some sort of plan is needed. The several things that need to be thought about will help make your video look a little more professional, well thought out and make the general video look better.

Just the use of a tripod allows you to make sure that all of the images are the same view and look more thought out. By using a tripod the camera is able to stay in the same position and this will help the pictures flow a lot easier when they are put together to make the stop motion movie. Also by using the tripod the position of the camera and how stable it is gives you couple less things to worry about when making these videos.

Settings on the camera should also remain the same through out the whole shoot of the stop motion so that non of the pictures change only the subject matter changes. If the camera settings were changed this would alter the flow of the video and make it look not thought out and less professional. The ISO should always remain the same as this would alter the video the most, also the focus. Always make sure that the camera is focused on the subject so that the viewer can easily tell what is happening in the video.

When placing the images into software to make the video make sure that all of the pictures fit the screen and each picture does not vary on how they look such as the orientation and how they fir the screen.

All of the these things should be taken into account when making a stop motion video so that the video does not look rushed. By not following these simple tips the stop motion video could look rushed, not thought out and un-professional. The quality should be great even if you think the idea isn't.

Stop motion video

This is the simple stop motion that i created today. This video shows a skateboard going along the step. This is a simple stop motion but also how simple they are easy to make.
